Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
Ixsoft sold Dom1 and Dom2. Will they sell Dom3 too?
Since Ixsoft supports cash on delivery payment method i would like to order Dom3 via them instead of directly via the shrapnel store. Because i dislike buying stuff via credit card and cash on delivery is my favourite payment method. So will Dom3 get sold via Ixsoft too? And will they sell it as soon as it is sold via shrapnel or how many weeks/months will i probably have to wait? Is there some contract between Shrapnel and Ixsoft or did Ixsoft just buy some copies of Dom2 from the shrapnelstore to sell them? Or will Dom3 get distributed only by shrapnel and not by some other online stores too like it was the case with dom1 and dom2? |
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
Just curious... how do you deal with "the package arrived, but I was at work when it happened" problem ?
I'd love to buy Dominions3 this way, because I share similar disgust for setting up a credit card. Not to mention there's no easy way to send money abroad from my country. |

Around here, it usually depends on the carrier. FedEx seems to not care about leaving anything on the doorstep, UPS refuses to leave it without a signature, and US Postal Service tells you to pick it up from their office. All depending upon the insurance and worth of the item, of course.

And really when i came back at the evening on that day my neighbor had my long awaited copy of Dom2 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif. In my example this was very easy though because one of my neighbors are our relatives so i could trust them http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif |
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
I dont kno wif I would trust my releatives to accept my Dom3 and then give it to me when I ask. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
My nearest neighboor is an alcoholic and rumor has it he was stealing electricity.
A few years ago a german consul went with his wife to our district for a walk. He was mugged, beaten, and robbed of his suitcase. Any more ideas ? |
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
Wow, rough neighborhood.
Pay some neighborhood gang to smuggle a copy in to you? |
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
Moving out to some nicer neighborhood sounds like a good idea too.

Steam?
*ducks* |
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
I preordered many games so far in the past 2-3 years, and me or a family member always had to sign a paper that I received the package. If nobody was at home, they left a small paper here, that I must go to the postal to pick up the package there. I thought that its working like this in all countries, it seems that I was wrong. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

We'd end up with an unifinished thing with no random map editor, 5 races, no unique units (every nation can train Man units only), and only 25 spells. Then it'll be flooded with expansion packs slowly drizzling the rest of the features into the game over a period of 1000 years. |
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
I think Steam would be a good option. Is Shrapnel already publishing its Space Empires series via it? The program has gotten A LOT better lemme tell you, and it has great promise to become the digital delivery marketplace.

Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
AFAIK,
Shrapnel doesn't publish Space Empire any more. Steam doesn't have anything to do with neither Shrapnel Games nor Space Empires ... . |
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
Ah, so it's all Malfador's territory then? Either way, I think a good way for Dom 3 to get noticed is via Steam.

Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
Strategy First now owns the Space Empires series.

Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
I am old fashioned. I avoid Steam like the plague. I much prefer to hold a cd in my hands and not have my game use my bandwidth to call home to the mothership everytime I want to play it. A friend of mine came to visit with his laptop and wanted to show me the half-life 2 upgrade for Team Fortress, but couldn't run it because he could not get a connection to the net from my house at the time. Maybe it was just that particular implementation of Steam, but that was my first exposure to it.
As long as it was just an alternative for distribution and not the only method of getting a particular piece of software, I would not have a problem with it. |
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
The checkup stuff is rather wacked, but I believe that's only for Valve's games, no?
|
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
Agreed. I dont mind that it exists. And even though its fine for me I would be abit irritated if it was the only option that a game supported. Even if they had to price them diffrently there should be other options IMHO.
|
Re: Will Ixsoft sell Dominions 3 ?
Aye, I agree. Options are always best.
I don't mind needing a connection if that's a better fit for something than a physical CD, but I normally just want to pop the CD in and go. That is especially true when playing from my laptop, which is often unable to pick up a suitable wireless signal. |
