Re: Blood Bath - EA Glory of Gods [Recruiting]

I've got everyone's emails, and I've now set up the server. I'll be sending out all the emails in the next hour, so you should be able to log in and upload your pretenders.

Please DO NOT hit the "start game" choice!

I'll do that once everyone has uploaded.

Edit:
All the emails have been sent, let me know if you have any problems.

I cannot log into the server. I can log into the middle way game fine, but not this one, I will try it again tomorrow.

Anyone else having difficulty getting in? I see at least some of the pretenders have been uploaded.

Re: Blood Bath - EA Glory of Gods [Recruiting]

Still having issues connecting to this server. I have downloaded the attached file and I have the lastest version of Worthy Heroes installed http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif

Here is what I have done so far...

I downloaded the attached map file and placed it in the map directory of Dominions 3.

I have Worthy Heroes installed already because of the Middle Way game.

I type in the correct IP and port you gave in the email.

It tells me I cannot connect to the server.

I can can change the port to the Middle Way game and it connects fine.

What a great mystery!

Here's the paramaters that I'm using under Windows

"-C --ipadr 24.17.189.161 --port 1025 --nocredits --nonationsel"

Does this match IP and port with what you're using?

Edit:
Foodstamp, I would also set up an entirely new shortcut (or the equivalent if you're on Linux or Mac) and try again. It sounds like you're editing the Middle Way game to see if you can get at Blood Bath, so maybe there's some weirdness there.

Re: Blood Bath - EA Glory of Gods [Recruiting]

BTW, here is the command line I am using...

"C:\Program Files\dominions3\dom3.exe" -C --ipadr 24.17.189.161 --port 1025 --nocredits --nonationsel

I have tried it without the --nonationsel, I have tried doing it manually by starting dom 3, choosing network game and putting in the IP and port. I have tried connecting with worthy heroes mod on, off. I have tested the map file in a single player game to make sure it loaded correctly. I have checked my router to make sure some weird bug had not reset my ability to connect to online games. This is absolutely baffling.

I am going to try to redownload the map file, maybe it is corrupted in some weird way and that is causing the error. The only other thing I can think of is some weird problem connecting to that particular port with my computer setup.

It seems unlikely to be related to the map file, I think you'd get other different kind of error messages. You actually don't need the map file at all, it'll take it off the server no matter what you have locally, I only attached it so people could see the changes I made.

This seems more likely. It certainly is possible that 1025 (and maybe most all ports) are blocked by firewall software. Is The Middle Way the only other TCP/IP game you're participating in? If you can give me a port # (other than 1024) that you know is working for some other game, I can setup a test on that other port.

Other than that I would suggest looking for Windows Firewall software settings (or anyother software, includind your router), that may have blocked outbound TCP/IP connections coming from Dom3.

Iirc, when the first time I ran Dom3 on a TCP/IP game Windows firewall asked me if I wanted it to allow it to make a connection. It's possible that that might be allowed only on a single port.
