Modular design is the only way to go & I am talking the entire program here for ease of updating modules make it simpler.
As for Developers doing modular game visa vis OOBs still don't think it would work.
Wargames are not mainstream games & do not command there budgets so you could do a limited theatre game which then has less appeal. Then would people realy pay to add another 4 nations to their game.

I don't think that making people
pay for additional countries is the way to go. I was thinking more as patches are added, the game gets better and better.
You could just have a decent payment required at the beginning like what they are doing with Dominions 3 in this forum.
The whole reason for making the game small at first is so you can get it off the ground easier to start out.

Imagine the time it would take to make a new game and include all the content that WinSPMBT has developed over a decade of time. Thats just not realistic, it's to much work.
The initial concern should be a whole new game engine that is able to be modified far easier than the current games.
New countries.weapons, etc could be added easiely and at any time after the basic game is developed.

The bottom line is that programmers are people too,and they have bills, and need to eat regularly, etc.
I would have no problem with paying $60.00 USD
for a whole new game engine, even with a limited amount of countries, years, gear, etc.

Meanwhile we could all still play WinSPMBT/WW2 on the side.

Thanks all for the feedback.
Actually have a Master in CS (not my profession now though), so I appreciate the complexity of the job if it were to be attempted, but thought the idea might be at least putting on the table.

Actually already have the CD (several copies) and been using it for many years. I like the Filter, but that won't actually address the issue I was getting at.

Ciao
