Re: Icons
Any hero or commander can equip 2 weapons, even if he's not ambidexterous, the different levels of Ambidexterity are only the bonuses and penalties for wielding 2 weapons or not. You can tell the penalties of the type of weapons you use by clicking on the "Attack" part in the Unit Information Screen.
This is also where you can tell what type of Ambidexterity they have (1, 2, or 3) [ March 13, 2004, 20:22: Message edited by: Zen ] |

Summons Allies
Gains Allies Automatically Spawns Allies In Battle Amphibious Leader (with a number) Beta Phase (made of dark matter that only weakly interacts with normal matter) Blood Slaving Bonus (for FoB / units with SDR). This should be a picture of a tentacle monster. Bane Poision / Bleed (these would explain some mysterious deaths) Experience (clicking on experience stars could show the unit's numeric experience / kills). Kenobe Icon (striking this unit down makes it more powerful than you can possibly imagine, for Machaka Black Hunters). Turtle Icon (shrinks when attacked, like Elementals). Actually those two could just be a shared "Death Form" icon=) Prognostication Icon (with a number - chance of avoiding bad events). Local Scale Icon (affects local scales, like luck or temperature) Scale Sensitivity Icon (unit is affected by local scales, like Winter Wolves and Ice Devils) |
Re: Icons
Zen,
So my unit has a base attack of 12. I give 2 weapons with +1 attack, 2 length. According to text, I should lose 4 attack due to length. So that means I'm a -2 using those weapons. But both attacks are actually 3 less then the base attack. Does that mean a -1 ambidexterity penalty? the -3 was consistent across my god, normal human leader, and a scout. Do I have this right or am I missing something? Thanks |

The attack penalty of wielding two weapons is equal to the sum of the lengths of both weapons. So you lose 2+2 = 4 attack for two length-2 weapons. That means *EACH* attack is at -4, base. However, EACH of your weapons is +1 attack. This is NOT cumulative, however, and is applied only to each attack with that weapon. So that means each attack is performed at -3: -4 for a pair of length 2 weapons, +1 for your weapon being +1 to attack. Ambidexterity basically just reduces the length of the weapons for the purposes of this calculation. An ambidexterity-3 unit can wield weapons of length 3 without penalty. Re: Icons
Got it. So basically do the math and if it doesnt add up right, you have some ambidexterity bonus? As in my examples below, I guess there was no bonus?

Re: Icons
Ok found a leader that is ambidextrous. It mentions it in the attack dialog. I guess I'll just have to look at each leader and remember if it is ambidextrous... you guys think an icon would be nice or is it just me? ;0

Re: Icons
I'd like an icon to show if a unit is PD or not. I often sat before battlereports and wondered if this was my defending army's militia being slaughtered or my PD...
