Default Re: OT: The House of 1001+ Avatars

..So far everything is going smoothly. I'm already up to speed with my 'work' apps (Paint Shop, ArtGem, compiler, etc.) I of course reinstalled Dungeon Odyssey, next will be SE4, Homm4, MM9, D2:LoD, Emperor:Battle for Dune, SoF2 and Kyodai MahJongg. Then I'll be fully up to speed.

One Strange thing, I have all of the following,.. Win 3.1, Win95, Win98, WinME, Win2000 Pro, and Now WinXP Home. The only one I ever had problems with is 2000 Pro. (even after installing both Service packs.) Now That, in my exp is a REAL piece of crap. I wasn't planning on buying XP, but like I said it was a gift. So far so good, I'm very pleased with XP, It has yet to implode, and with the amount of action it's been getting this past 30+ hours I'm sure it's going to be a keeper.

Cheers!

P.S. fyi, this is my sys specs..

AMD Athlon Xp 1700+ (1.47ghz)
256Meg SDRAM
30Gig Maxtor HD
3DForce2 MX-64TV AGP (nVidia Grorce 2 MX-400 chip)
SoundBLaster Live Value!
50x CD Rom
24/8/4 CD-R Burner
Floppy, Optical Mouse, Multimedia Keyboard
.and Drumroll please.. my 14inch KTX Color Monitor. (max rez 1024x768 but I'm running at 800x600 to prevent my eyes from falling out!)

Waaahahahahahaha! Spooky eh?

I use my Laptop for all my computing needs so it is just 15 inch LCD screen. Running at 1024X768. I can't stand 800X600. Everything is too big. 1600X1200 is just too dang small. My dad has a 20 inch flat screen viewsonic. It is an awesome monitor. He is running at 1600X1200.
Oh and with my Laptop, the LCD screen decommendation for my computer is 1600X1200. I say forget that.

I hope XP works good for you. So far so good just prey and hope it stays like that.

Sounds like you got a decent system there. I wouldn't mind having it. Although I would prefer Pentium over Athalon (Nothing wrong with Athalon just personal preferance. )

Mental note to self: Must find picture of the King Harley Race in case I become King of the Hill. Then I could have it "gervais-ized"

I read a lot of people asking where Geoschmo's new avatar came from. As I was reading the "does anyone remember traveler" thread, I came up with a guess. Its it from the "Rifts" rpg (from palladium games)? Not like they have a monopoly on evil technological eyes, but the image in Geo's profile seems very similar to some of their artwork...

(But it may not be AS bad for you. Lets hope anyways. )
XP IS Win2000, just with better hardware support. If you have performance problems, try going here (see edit below) they have some excellent suggestions to improve the performance of XP.

edit: cursed URL I'll get this right yet

edit: gaah! stupid URL!!

edit: I give up. Just go to www.tweaktown.com and root around for the XP tweaking guide.

Is there any sort of reservations or can I use this avatar? I'm new player and it's too much for me to read through this whole thread.

edit: new avatar...

I have not seen anyone use that one. Most of the avatars David has made are not being used and you are free to use them. If you choose one that someone else is using the worst that will happen is they will tell you about it. You won't get beat up or anything.

Well, since this is my thread, this is where I'll wish you all a very merry Christmass...

On Dasher , on Dancer, Prancer, Vixen,.. On Comet, on Cupid, Donner and Blitzen, and we must not forget the most famous reindeer of all, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!.. had a very shiny nose,... la la la la,..

Ok, that's enough singing, and be thankfull that my 'voice' doesn't translate into text!

My good cheer did however translate well into pics!..

Cheers! Everybody.
