Could you also give a shot at some sort of net, (thinking kind of energy based net/mesh) in case I like it better

something along the lines of [This] but perhaps glowing, and not round.
Perhaps slightly deformed as if something is caught.
kinda just throwing ideas here

A Spec ops insignia would be cool, but I am not sure what would be good. I did some surfing to see if I could find anything. Problem is most special forces don't have special ranks, they use the regular ranks assigned to the service that they are a part of. They do have unit emblems and whatnot, but those are usually pretty ornate. Not sure if you could use something like that.

Some common themes are daggers, lightening bolts, parachutes, arrows and birds wings.

A few examples:

This is my 5 minute effort.
I'm actually quite pleased with it, having managed to get a pseudo-organic energy type network thing going here
I'm sure David can do better though, but this is sort of what I had in mind.
