WinSPMBT Android?
Is there any chance of a version of this game for Android? Maybe a dumbed down version?

Re: WinSPMBT Android?
I don't speak for Andy or Don, but i would guess the answer is no. IF that's possible, it wouldn't be worth all the trouble anyway

Re: WinSPMBT Android?
Hmmm I'd pay for that... u can be sure
I think it'd be worth. A free demo and another complete version for purchase about 5$ downloading at android market. It´d be a good game for a Android tablet...
If the game has been adapted to Windows it could be adapted to LINUX/Android....
A lot of old games are been played again with the new smartphones or tablets...

Re: WinSPMBT Android?
I'd like that too. But maybe it's not exclusively the game itself that's altered for play on Android. Maybe, just maybe, we may use an OS simulator just the way DOS can be simulated on later OS.

Re: WinSPMBT Android?
Emulators... hehe i tried that. Impossible for Windows XP, doesnt work or does it roughly.
In MSDOS is possible but we need a basic MSDOS SPMBT version. I havent been able to find it... and i think it should not work properly, lack of memory mainly...
So i bet for a android version...

Re: WinSPMBT Android?
Ah well... there should be a lot of code rewriting, and that alone is already something utopian even just to think of.
Of course we'll need another developer team out there who's willing to import it to Android. Considering the conversion process from SP to WinSP is itself a long & hard work.

Re: WinSPMBT Android?
I still think winSPMBT and winSPWW2 are the greatest tactical level games around. Their campaign generation ability gives them a never ending playability. I have been playing them for year... Just an opinion. However, with that said, it would be great if one could play them on a Tab with Android OS. Basically because I have one and can`t.... But I`m not sure that it would be a waste of time. Look at the games that are currently available for Tab. Old hack. Stuff that was available on PC ages ago. People need an alternative like SPMBT and SPWW2.
I`m a hobbyiest programmer - but never done anything other than Soduko... Would be willing to assist in a project to upgrade or convert SPMBT and SPWW2.
Unless of course somebody really decides to upgrade it into a 3D version with all the bells and tringkets.

Re: WinSPMBT Android?
You cannot just port WinSPMBT to a tablet PC version. The whole GUI would need to be done from scrach, also other stuff like I/O. And with that legacy code line it would be just a nightmare.
The only reasonable approach would be to create a completely new game, decouple the engine from the UI so that you can port it more easily to different platforms. But even then I heavily doubt that you would earn money with it. Look at the games in the android / iOS market.
So at the end you do this in you spare time or if you do not need to earn money. And judging the complexity of WinSpmt you'd need a bunch of dedicated people doing this; working on it for years!
