Default About to buy the game: first some questions

I've only just finished the the instructed part of the demo but I'm already liking what I see. However, before I decide to buy this game, a few questions:

1. How big are the biggest map sizes? I'm sure you know what it looks like in the demo. Can it be much larger than that in the full game? I'm looking for a game where the map size can be huge so as to allow for genuinely epic games. I've recently been playing MOO2 again and noticed that even on the "huge" galaxy setting, it really is every small and three AI plus me is as far as I'll care to take it there--otherwise it's just too cramped.

2. Is the amount of ships you can have in your empire limited to how much support you can provide or is there an imposed limit? If so, what is it?

3. How does this game compare to MOO2? Just go from the top of your head as far as what comes to mind.

4. Is there any place in Canada to order this game or do I have to do it from this site? Does anyone know what the shipping charges are on that from here? (The exchange rate on the base $39.95 price alone is going to make this expensive. Toss in shipping across the border and I'm almost afraid to know what this might cost me if I go ahead.)

thanks!

1 - 255 systems MAX on a HUGE map; Infinite Number of planets and other stellar bodies.

2 - Yes and yes: 1000 ships maximum, if your economy can afford it. If it cannot, whatever you can't afford is destroyed automatically.

3 - No annoying Antarans; No Orion Council, More outlets of modding, better graphics, much better ship design, although some minor points lack.

4 - Have to order it from the site, have to get via Canadapost. It'll cost you about 100 dollars canadian if you live in Alberta. (That's what it cost me.)

Actually, the limit of ships per empire in the current Version is 20,000!

255-system quadrants will indeed take an epic amount of playing to conquer.

Lots of differences compared to MOO2. I much prefer SE4 (or SE3), but MOO2 did a few nice things SE4 doesn't do, or not as well (spies, AI diplomacy, some aspects of combat such as facing, "heroes", effects of transplanting different races, ability to move between systems without warp points). However, SE4 does LOTS of good things that MOO2 doesn't, such as:

* Practically unlimited modding, and great mods.

* Larger tech tree

* Generally better tech tree (IMO)

* Enormous quadrants, if you want them

* Enormous battles, if you want them

* Great play-by-web with other humans

* Great variety of possible unit designs and types, especially with mods

* Great variety of game types, with various settings, mods, maps, play styles, etc.

* Lots of room for interesting and different strategies and tactics and designs.

Hmm, just went over to compusmart.com and it's not listed. Even under the search function, neither Shrapnel Games nor Malfador are listed. Maybe you should call them and get them straightened out.
