No sound
Hello all!
I recently rediscovered SPMBT while looking for a wargame to start PBEM with. It was hard to find anything better when it comes to its scale and concept.
I installed the game on my laptop and the game runs smooth in wondow mode (after the usual intro disabeling) in every aspect besides sound. I have no sound what so ever in the game. I have tried to change between mp3 and wav with no change.
I was looking forward to cross sound mod, but can at the moment not get any sound to work.
I am running Vista on a HP Pavilion Laptop with a Realtek defenition soundboard.
Have anyone had any similar problems?

As you have the unsupported Vista operating system, then you are on your own, unfortunately.
You could read through the various Vista threads and see if your problem is addressed there. (You may also want to check the WW2 forum for any different Vista info that may appear there).
I seem to recall something about the latest Vista patch disabling previously working Microsoft DirectShow applications somewhere. Guess what thingy we use for sound and for the intro splash screen? - yep, DirectShow.
Cheers
Andy

Re: No sound
Thank you for the reply!
I have looked through the forums and concluded that it is a dead end then. I guess that I will have to make my own sfx to the amusement of my surronding.... or use my old desktop that still runs XP.
It was anyways nice to see that this game still have got its charm.

You didn't look hard enough, plenty of us are running the game with no performance problems and sound in vista 64 bits.
Start by not installing in Program Files (turning off UAC is also an option, but I didn't need it)
Then, make sure you don't play the intro video (sure crash on vista 64)
Set the main executable and the game options executable to compatibility mode : XP SP2 mode did it for me.
Everything works just fine after that.

Thank you!
I have not tried to install it in another folder so that is something that I need to try as well.

Re: No sound
I reinstalled the game in a different folder, but it would not still work. Then I restarted my system and now it works! I have no clue about what happened...

Re: No sound
We keep hoping Microsoft will finally sort out the issues with Vista. The latest Vista patch actually takes a step back from our POV. What's puzzling is not everyone has a problem with the sound
