Deciphering Pretender Titles, Affliction Lists
Hi, I'm new to Dom3, never played the older games in the series either, and I'm on turn 7 of my first MP game. However, I have read a lot of the threads in this forum. I have two things that I still haven't found:
1. Is there a list somewhere of which Pretender Title corresponds to which scale/magic path/dominion strength/awakening status was taken?
2. Is there a list somewhere of the various afflictions and their effects? I'm looking for the effects of being feebleminded, but I might as well know all of the other afflictions.
Thanks and Dom3 is a great game!

Re: Deciphering Pretender Titles, Affliction Lists
No concentrated affliction lists anywhere. There are ratehr few afflictions and all of their effects are more or less known. Playing any amount of SP will allow you to learn them soon.
Feeblemind is -5 MR, lose all magic, -1 (or -2) defense, attack, precision. Something like that.
There no lists of pretender titles either, never mind a list that would tell you whet paths, scales, nations and pretender types give what titles. If there was, I would know about it and chances are that I'd be the person who made it in the first place in such an instance.

Thanks for the quick response! It seems to me that the pretender titles have some kind of randomness to them. I'll go check out your Dom3 DB now =)

Yeah, pretender titles are quite random. I suspect you get them randomly determined from a list of those you 'qualify' for. Sometimes I'll re-do pretender creation if I don't like his titles and get a new set.
I think there was a thread about this in Dominions2, but I don't think anyone's done a proper list.

You might or might not already know this, but here goes: Clicking on an affliction icon (the little red heart) will tell you exactly what the effects of the affliction are.

Re: Deciphering Pretender Titles, Affliction Lists
If you are planning to use the info in an MP game to figure out what god they used then you should know that (for now) you can add your own titles to the list by putting comma and title in the name. Such as:
Dagoth, the Sleeping God
####, the Unpronouncable (great for the glowing rune thing)
<@>, the Unblinking Eye
/\*/\, the Backstabber (that Mictlan flying bat god that is an assassin?)
$#!+, the Censored (great if you fudge in using that naked version of the God of Fertility)
Baphomet, ignore man behind curtain (sorry for the Wizard of Oz reference. Im old)
Queen Mother, the InLaw (Mother of Monsters?)
Iam, (I am, I am, I am a God!) (love it for the guy being carried in the chair)
Its not an unlimited typeing space. And it can mess up some screens. Dont end the title with a comma since the game will add a comma and some more titles. It can be fun.

Re: Deciphering Pretender Titles, Affliction Lists
Based on the string table, there are a LOT of titles. See attachment for the list of titles and appellations.
Edit -- Added attachment. Thought it was their before, weird.

You can still differentiate between those that were added and those that were given if you look at the pretender screen (F4).
You can have even more fun with special key combinations...

Re: Deciphering Pretender Titles, Affliction Lists
As far as I know, special characters worked in Dom2 but not in Dom3
