A Merman cast a global Enchantment
I'm playing a game against the I.A., playing Oceania. I cast three globals.
Then comes a battle, among others. I look at my units, don't remember why, certainly to see if they had afflictions, and I see that one of my mermen, a very basic unit, has the symbol "Global Enchantment" in its attributes.
Here's the culprit : http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/4...1803054860.jpg
The globals I had cast were "Wraht of the Sea", "Riches from Beneath" and "Lure of the deep". Here's a screenshot : http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/4...1803072081.jpg
So, seeing how the merman has the magic abilities of a flagellant, how is that possible ? Is it a bug ?

Re: A Merman cast a global Enchantment
That looks like the "cursed" symbol on your merman, not the global symbol. They're the same shape, but the global one is bright green while the cursed one is a darker grayish color. Could that have been what it is?

Re: A Merman cast a global Enchantment
Are you playing with the latest patch? There was an issue with this that was addressed a few patches ago...
For reference (IIRC), the issue there was that a unit with a global had been killed, and their unit-id was recycled. The global enchant icon registry was apparently not cleared with unit death, and when the new unit (using the old unit's ID) was created, they still retained the icon. The impact was purely cosmetic.
If you've still got the turn files, you should probably submit them to Illwinter so they can analyze them.

See the "Global Enchantment" text at the bottom of the screenshot. I assume that's the hover text for the icon, and that its color is changed due to having been selected?

Exactly.
I doubt that a global caster had been killed before that unit was created, because it's a merman, I have them since I went on land, and it's only when on dry land that I could cast a global.
I'll check, but I think the unit died in a battle since then.
And yes, I am using the latest patch, although I have left this game on hold for quite a long time, so it's quite possible I started it without said patch.
