Fallout Re: MBT's

Well, this will be the easiest tank I didn't have to build because in a manner of speaking, it's already in the game about where I would've wanted the numbers to be in particular as it regards the FCS. So, Don THANK YOU!!! This tank goes back to last week as posted before the TAIWAN issue came up.

The next 2 involves Turkey 1. Is a unit I intended to delete several years ago because Turkey decided to pursue the ALTAY Program which is still delayed pending further investigation. And depending on the outcome of that investigation and due to, many years' worth of delays, Turkey has already announced the "NEW" ALTAY will be improved from the version we thought they would, and we have currently in the game. I'm sure some high-ranking Turkish Officers are kicking themselves in the that they didn't pursue the one up for DELETION. They would've had about 200 of them or more by now. Also, they have not put this up for an Export sale as well, but Germany probably would've stopped it like they did the powerplant and transmissions for the ALTAY that set that program back at least 8 -10 years.

The other I let slip though I posted on it several times from the start like ALTAY etc. and that's the KAPLAN Light/Med. tank which was a joint venture with Indonesia and more recently put into service by the Philippines with one other Asian country now or in the near future, thinking Vietnam but, have to check.

On KAPLAN my thinking is a simple "Vanilla" tank for all current operators. Don if you want it just say the word. My thinking is further to use the BRADLEY and one of a couple of others to give me a baseline to work with on the armor side to maybe include the VT-4. The rest is easy but not as easy as the next...

ROMANIA/CHANGE/T-85M2 BIZONUL/UNIT 017/RENAME/T-85M1R/CHANGE/START JAN 2025 vice JAN 2012/EW 2/TI/GSR 45. // There is no data on an "M2" in these current refs. it is possible it was something they planned to do and probably for financial reasons didn't proceed. I feel that with both the EW & TI/GSR increases along with the rest make this tank for its size "competitive" against its contemporaries currently out there.

TURKEY/DELETE/LEOPARD 2T/UNIT 039. // As noted above, I posted on this tank when it was displayed as a PROTOTYPE of which they 2 MAYBE 4 of. Why? Well again to pursue the ALTAY until a change in leadership in Turkey along with the "crackdowns" that occurred shortly after the elections which further lead to some very public "human rights violations" made things to "politically hot" for Germany and Austria at home to continue supporting and supplying Turkey on further development for the ALTAY at a very critical and costly time in its early development. For the financial reasons this all imposed it forced Turkey to abandon any hope on further development of the LEOPARD 2T. The FIX was both the M60T UNIT 616 & M60T LAHAT UNIT 617 which we worked on.

Seeing those dates makes me wonder how many tanks we worked on together over the years?

Also...
INDIA: They have found a solution to their tank problems in the mountains of the lower Himalayas of which the T-72 tanks they are operating are having a difficult time in doing as China is running around with their VT-4 (Close enough.) tanks in the same area. On paper it looks good, and they finally have the indigenous tank business figured out with both ARJUN and ARJUN Mk 1 fully in operation.

Final note: On the Taiwanese M-60A3M (TM?) as submitted last night, I forgot to post this to "drive home" the numbers which also support those of the M-60TAIWAN-P from both refs of last night the following..."Additionally, the commander will have an independent targeting system, which will enable direct observation and firing to conduct effective strikes." This was the first capability to be accomplished that in modern terms truly defined the term of "Hunter Killer" capability. This was the difference between the M1A1 and M1A2 ABRAMS initially.

I'll be off tomorrow as I have an appointment in JAX Fl. mid-morning.

Regards,
Pat
