Simple; it's my parent's computer, and for the past 10 years they've relied on me as the computer person in the house. I'm leaving soon, and don't want to leave some programs "broken" once I'm gone.
I'll try reinstalling the codecs, that might just be the problem. Hadn't thought of that one, many thanks. I'll let you know how it works...or doesn't work.
