I don't understand why this (crucial) part of the AI is hard-coded, while most of the rest of the game is so easily moddable... Maybe because it could be exploited?

The AI (if activated) will scrap the problematic population on the next turn, right?
Wouldn't a simpler fix be to only add population when there was none on the cololizer to start with?

Yeah, the space combat is REALLY finicky in SEV, I've had some problems with it myself:

It was always confusing to me, which one was stronger: the cloak level, or the sensor level...
Maybe sensors should use odd numbers and cloaks even numbers to avoid any confusion?

The reviews said you couldn't control your (carefully designed) ships in combat. This is a major turn-off for me. At least in Space Empires in simultaneous games you still have the combat simulator.
