Re: Screensaver Request
It's definitely not abandoned. I saw a fairly recent post from Fingers (late June) talking about prioritizing what he works on. He spent 6 months serving in the Finnish army, so I think that slowed...

Nihilix and I (and I think pretty much all of the Fearless Testers) asked for that repeatedly during development. I think it's the single most-requested feature, in fact.

I think the game is helping you out a bit in that instance. If it did target the nearest star, you'd get partway there, discover the black hole, and then be stuck in an endless loop with the only...

That there would be one of the devs talking, so I think it's safe to conclude that yes, it's a deliberate choice.

It is a deliberate decision. I asked for more numbers, or at least more indications of relative strength, multiple times during the early testing...

Re: Relative Merits of Ship/Mission Types
The point values and distribution of items slightly favor the Military mission. During the beta test, I ran numbers on it a couple of times. The Frigate gets high value for the weapons and systems...

You don't want to sell your passengers -- they're worth points in your final score, and don't take up cargo space. Unless you have plenty of open space and can get really nice (4-coin or more) stuff...

Re: The Flea Riding the Tiger (Zorg and Kawangi)
The Temporal Flux shield will regen if breached, but only a point (or so). Otherwise it does not regen at all. Thus the best choice for the Cloaked Bloodfang is the Meson Lattice Shield.

The Zorg Fridate's third weapon is the Antichronon Pulse Blaster. It's in a rear-facing hardpoint, so you won't see it fire unless you are engaging them from the rear. It has a huge firing arc,...

The stardrive hardpoints are cosmetic, not functional. As Nihilix points out, it's based entirely on the size of the ship.
