Trying to do a clean re-install
 

Hello all,

I am attempting to do a clean re-install of WINSPMBT. I installed the Coldwar 2020 mod and noticed several OOB discrepancies, so after a dialogue with Plasmakrab, am trying to uninstall and re-install WINSPMBT. However, I notice each time I attempt to re-install and open the game, the former saved games are still there in the saved games portion of the menu. Also, my concern is MOBHACK is staying dormant somewhere on my hard drive too, causing confliction. I have even gone through the Shrapnel Games folder to delete any residual folders from WINSPMBT. So, am hoping there is someone else that has experienced similar issues with re-install. I believe part of my problem with Plasmakrabs mod is I have modded my former MOBHACK but it seems to be staying on the hard drive somewhere so just want to conduct a new start.

Firstly I assume by MOBHACK you mean non standard OOBs.
It is common for uninstalls to leave user defined stuff behind.
Your Preffs Game saves modified OOBs etc would all fall in that category.

Back up anything you want like maps pref file,
Now uninstall & use explorer or whatever to navigate to the MBT folder & delete it.
If you have Vista your game saves may still appear if you installed in the program file directory, don't it only causes problems. Its not a problem just save over them as you play or delete them it does not effect the install though they may not work properly if OOBs have changed.

If you want to reinstall Plasmas mod suggest the following.
Re install & patch SPMBT
Now copy the whole folder somewhere else
Go to the folder & create a shortcut from the game options icon.
Rename it Coldwar or something & apply the mod.
You now have the standard game & the coldwar one

Thanks Imp! I just applied and found the additional installs and promptly deleted them. However, even after installing and patching a completely new install of WINSPMBT and then applying Plasmakrabs mod, there are still discrepancies. I am starting to accept the possibility that Plasmakrabs mod is not wholly complete nor has been thoroughly screened for discrepancies. That's not to imply I don't appreciate the attempt by the individual to expand a great game, but I keep getting the same missing icons and lbm files, so back to the original files.
