What was your first nation?
I had better make this post before everyone forgets. What nation did you first play the game with? I realize this might make it biased towards the demo-enabled nations, so say if it was the demo or not.
Mine was Vanheim, full version since I was so excited to see an entire nation of just vans, no wimpy humans - and I grew attached to the theme after the Council of Wyrms game. My first Dominions game ever I started with Man (Dom2), since I usually start with "terrans" or "humans" or whatever when I get a new game, since you can appreciate the differences of other races that way. So what did you pick first (Dom3 and/or Dominions in general) and why? |
Re: What was your first nation?
I wrote it down. It's titled "The Second Christmas".
First, some basic stuff. Oh, a city! Benchmark stats. A small graphical bug fixed since. First Day Ulm, Enigma of Steel RANDOMS?!?? Antler Shaman ?0 - 10% chance!!! Holy 1?! What's this? He has Frost resist 50? Oh, and STEALTH! Stealth 0, hmm, not that good... Shamans have Holy 1 too! Have the Holy spells changed... Yes, but... Word of Power?! What? Some confusing comments about battle. I scribbled this one down VERY fast. Then: Damage numbers?! This is good! Throwing axes? Cool! Hey, a new heroic ability! A third eye! cool! I think I changed nation then, because next on the list are Life for a Life, with a smiley-face next to it, and Brimstone Boots. Any way, that's my first impression of a new Dom3 nation. It's written something like this on the papers. It's got some Finnish words and sentences here and there, and there are disfigured smiley faces instead of some some ?s and !s, but that's most of what I wrote down. |
Re: What was your first nation?
I played as Pangaea MA in the full version, because in Dom 2 they were kind of like "my" nation, if you know what I mean. I think their story is what I liked the most, but I digress. I chose them for my first game, because I knew them well and could thus focus on the smaller changes that you might not normally notice when trying an entirely new nation.
As far as my first Dom game ever goes, I think it was C'tis on Dom 2. I had learned of the game in the Tom vs Bruce article in CGW. I chose C'tis, because why wouldn't I want to play a nation of lizardmen? Of course, I later found out that their troops are not very good. I chose a Wyrm for my pretender, because that just felt right. Ah, the good ole' days. |
Re: What was your first nation?
In Dominions PPP I first played Ermor (ashen empire, not that there was any other kind), because undead hordes are cool. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif My first MP was with Man.
With the Dom3 demo I first tried Agartha briefly, then Atlantis for next few games. |
Re: What was your first nation?
Man LE
Wanted to see what the difference were |
Re: What was your first nation?
Atlantis. Wanted to see the Basalt Kings and Living Pillars. I was too "ZOMG SQUEE!" to form any coherent way of doing things. My frogzards got slaughtered by lion tribe archers. Then I tried Agartha... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif
The very first nation I played in the Dominions series C'tis. I played the "europe map" of Dom I. I captured the province next to mine and found the Cedar Pillars there... ...I was 120% Sold. |
Re: What was your first nation?
Full version. LA R'lyeh, as the concept of insanity appealed to me.
Went from them, to EA T'ien C'hi, to MA Mictlan, now experimenting with EA Niefelheim. |
Re: What was your first nation?
My first Dom:PPP nation was Arco
My first Dom2 nation was Ulm (standard) My first Dom3 nation was Bandar Log EA in a press preview version (2.79) that did not have all nation finished. |
Re: What was your first nation?
In both Dom II and Dom III the first nation I played was standard Ulm (MA). Just to get my feet wet I like the more military less magic strategy. I also began both games with an immoble pretender (Statue in Dom II, forget already what I used in III).

Re: What was your first nation?
heh my first dom II nation was Ulm. And first dom game ever actually.
