The Shipyards
 
For planetary bombardment of an enemy homeworld which had an orbital shipyard. After killing off the ground batteries, fighters, and satellites, I captured the orbital shipyard. Which brings me to the two specialized "ship" designs...

Auxiliary Fuel Processing Pod
An 'escourt'-class immobile structure with no engines, just equipment that generates supplies. This pod is an extension of the space station, but can be fleeted to support the high supply needs of ongoing orbital bombardment.

Auxiliary Launch Bay
Also an 'escourt'-class extension of the space station, this pod houses shuttle bays, and a couple mine deployers. This makes the captured space station a useful platform for storing and launching system control fighters/shuttles, and placing mines in planetary orbit to deter enemy counter-assault.

See your point..... remember it and place it in the SEVI wishlist as soon as it's created. Sounds like a really good idea.
