I got some serious problems with my computer, I just got home from a friend where I had been using my hardrive with(conected to his computer) and now I cant do anything but using windows own applications such as explorer etc, Ive lost all rights to use other programs. I am the Administrator and I also got another profile who got (or supposed to) have priviliges to do anything. I havent changed anything and he sure hasent changed anything still i got no rights http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

I got no clue what so ever. Im using Windows 2000 Pro.

Sounds like you have a virus... make sure to thank your friend then run anti-virus software.

I was hoping you wouldnt say that, well..my antivirus prog dosent work....nothing on my c:\ does....but the games on D:\ do so i can still play Dom2 (only game i got installed) Anyone dosent happen to know of a freeware antivirus prog i can get hold of?

If you do have a virus, then I wouldn't expect it to take long before it infects most of your files on any drive you have connected.

Im downloading norton at the moment so lets see if it find anything and can get rid of it, It could be virus...he has had some problems from time to time but nothing serious....and ones i gave him a virus....alll hell broke loos for me but not for him...he wasent really affected by it (he uses Win XP Pro) dont know how viruses work and if it has any difference...or ill just have to wipe my hardrives tomorow *sigh* I got so much crap on my puter that i dont want to loose but Nero wont work so i cant make any back-up :/ Oh well....that life

EDIT: Yupp, I was infected....pinfi....does ring a bell but I cant remember ever having it before(I use to get viruses all the time) but they are usually the ones that just crashes the puter :/

Strange thing was when i botted the puter in...uhm.."Fels�kertl�ge" Safe mode(?) the softwares did work....so i ran spybot search and destroy and ad-aware and they cleaned up the system real good. Hope it was just these 2(so far...it isent finished yet) that did it and it get fixes....then ill send a big kiss to the creaters of Norton Anti-Virus 2004 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif
