New Player

I just started playing the demo Last night. This is alot of fun. I'm going to have to order this game. Here are bugs I found in the DEMO Version:

Built a space yard and a medium freighter. The freighter started off with zero moves and no supplies. So I built a supply depot. Freighter still has no moves. I grouped a ship with full supplies with the freighter. Fleet still wont move.

Same thing happened with a Cruiser that ran out of supplies. Cruiser had one move so I grouped it with a Cruiser with full supplies. Now the group has only one move.

Other that that nothing unusual. Only been playing like 6-7 hours. Having alot of fun.

Re: New Player

If I am not mistaken I think you have to actually give the ship an order to resupply.

Re: New Player

No. Resupply and supply sharing are automatic at a base with a supply depot. It just seems to be a small bug in the demo.

Played all night Last night, and then until 3pm in the afternoon. A 16 hour sitting. Easily won the first game and started a second game tonight. This is pretty nice.

Re: New Player

I tried this Last night and there is no bug in this Version. So, it must be 'fixed'.

But, keep in mind when you 'group' your units into fleets it appears like they don't start to share supplies until the next turn sometimes (if one of the ships has already moved?)

Re: New Player

Beta tester, eh? Sounds like fun. Especially on a game this nice. All I have is the older demo. I'm really looking forward to the final Version.

Think I'll start over again and try another racial design.

PS. editing this addition: There *is* a problem doing what I described in the Demo Version of the game. If you build a Medium Freighter without building a resupply depot then the ship will start with no moves. If you then build the resupply depot later this medium freighter still wont be supplied. This is a fact. Also, If you run a Light Cruiser out of supplies, so that its moves drop to one, then group another light Cruiser with it that has supplies, the moves will stay at one in the demo Version. Waiting a turn does not help.

Re: New Player

Woody: to resuply a ship, you need to send other ship with the "Suply Storage" component, group both ships into a fleet and wait one turn.

Re: New Player

Ah, I see. I thought that ships in a fleet should be sharing supplies. They seem to share supplies unless one runs completely out. I havent tested that, though.

I havent put any of the resupply components on the ships yet. Perhaps I should for situations like these.

Re: New Player

Actually, you don't need the supply storage component. Any ships grouped together in a fleet will share supplies with one another.

No, you're thinking of necrophilia.

I was actually thinking of necropostia. The resurrection of log dead posts. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Good thing too, because between this and your posts on the SE5.com board that'd be a necro orgy, and we don't want to go there.

Suction Cup Feet and Necrophelia? Think of the possibilities! (Gotta turn off this CSI~~~)

I was completely fooled. I read the first few posts and thought they were talking about the SEV demo. I thought, wow, some old forum members have come back to play SEV. I didn't realize it until I finally got to the "necromancy" comment.

Can we start suspending people that do this? It's getting old.

Actually I was considering the notion of locking old threads when they are resurrected like this for no reason.

I've never understood the complaints about thread Necromancy. I've always seen it as the more efficient alternative. Although in this case it was pointless.

Re: New Player

Pointless thread necromancy and posting a new question in a relevant old thread are not in the same league...

It's harmlessly silly, as long as it isn't overdone - Which it isn't, in my opinion.
