Re: Random Nations, Newbie Game (Players Wanted)

Sadly, the giants' messenger did not arrive at my capital until after my army had finished conducting their defensive maneuvers by liberating a province adjacent to my capital from foreign rule. It is true that negitiations were taking place, but the charge that an agreement was broken rings false. We are a people of honor, and we hold to our word. It was never given to the people of Jotunheim.

Let it also be known that two of my brave arrow-catcher...err, warriors, were slain while liberating this province, contrary to the claim that it was "defenseless."

Re: Random Nations, Newbie Game (Players Wanted)

Dear all,

As I have taken much risk selecting a imprisoned pretender at the beginning of the game, I designed a sea nation that heavily relay on early aggressive expansion, which would require excellent order/growth/magic scales. Sadly, as the fate would have it, my nation is now infested with misfortune, heat, drain, and death. In 6 turns my capital's unrest has shot up to 43 with 70% tax rate. It is difficult to expand with less than 200 income per turn. Therefore, regretably, I have decided to hand over control of the kingdom of Atlantis to AI.

My sincere apologies and best luck to you all.

That is a shame, I wish you would reconsider this early in the game. I am bordering you and I will not take actions against your nation to give you time to build if you have not flipped to AI yet.

Btw nice quote, That's my favorite western.

Yeah, it's one of my fav movie too. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

I am also in direct contact with other nations who's already taken the immediate surrounding provinces due to my unexpected slow expansion, I have lost the initiative and unable to cope with the unrest, I expect the mighty Atlantis will soon sink beneath the Atlantic Ocean, as foretold by the wise Plato.

Have fun everyone.

What's the cause of the unrest? Spies, game bug, chain of bad events, enemy dominion?

The scales bug, i assume.

Re: Random Nations, Newbie Game (Players Wanted)

AFAIK: Scale bug is turn-2 only, and has nohing to do with unrest, just the scales. His scales should be back to full strength by now, or nearly so, since the bug isn't an ongoing effect, just a one-time reset, and his dominion will tip the scales back each turn like in any other province.

Re: Random Nations, Newbie Game (Players Wanted)

Untrue my friend, the false scales are still there. unrest is caused by random events.

Guess you found a new version of the bug then. None of the posts I could find on the original scale bug mention ongoing effects, and my own capital scales have returned to my dominion norms, or within one step of them, by now (I got hit by the less-nasty form of the bug I guess). Oh well, stability and computers aren't known for playing well together.

FYI -

I haven't figured out how to fix the time issues on the server that game is located on so I'm just going to force the turn myself after 48 hours if the need ever arises (it hasn't so far).

This is just a warning to everyone that there will be no notificatoin of how long you have until the next turn is due (unless you get email notifications and you can just go off of that).
