Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow

Dominion kill, I believe, hastened by military defeats and a province that really, REALLY should be #nostart - one land neighbor, and that one only has two land neighbors itself. Man got a shafted start position.

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow

Caelum has conquered Man's capital (a turn ago I think), not sure if it was dominion kill afterwards or not, probably didn't matter anyway.

The message indicated a Dominionkill.

That was a very early rush.

So, are we going to upgrade to 2.14 anytime soon?

What is the advantage of upgrading exactly?

Are there any serious game play issues that get modified?

Seems like 2.12 is fine for our purposes, unless it puts someone at a significant disadvantage.

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow

Well, there is a good number of fixes (including network fixes) so you should take a look at complete list.

The thing is that some of the players may be seeing new patch, then log on to mosehansen site and see that Version there is also 2.14; making him upgrade and play the game on different Version then the rest of us without checking the forums. So, we should upgrade as soon as possible.

I suggest sending an in-game message to everyone that the game will be upgraded to 2.14 after [enter turn number here] turn so that everyone does it at the same time. That way all players will know when they need to go to next Version.

Me! My first MP-Kill! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif Sorry, I lost the thread, which was why I didnt respond - now I am using this favourite-thread feature to stay informed...

It was indeed a dominion kill, although I conquered Man's captial castle a turn before.
Nevertheless, the kill was simply due to two things. First I got a little help from a friend and second Man's starting position was very unfortunate, but it also caused quite some casualties to my army, since at the same time of my main assault, Man easily recaptured the one adjacent province (which I had left undefended), thus causing a swift Death to all my precious routing Elephants... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/fear.gif

I don't think it has. Although I had some interesting battles going on when viewing it with 2.12, there didn't seem to be any inconsistencies.

I might have been just lucky, though. Esben, oh game- and server-owner, please illuminate us with your insights.

The Last few rounds have taken quite long. Does anyone know whether Marignon and Vanheim are still in the game? They are the Last ones to not make their turns, and I have a feeling it was the same thing Last turn. Marignon's power graph is looking bit sad too, is he fighting back at all?

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow

Hi guys.

My parents were in a very serious car accident Last week, so I've been neglecting the game. I apologize, but sometimes you just gotta prioritize.

They are both alive and recovering. Yay!

In other news I can't connect.

Given the number of wars I was fighting, it may be that I was eliminated in the two turns I missed. ;(

Or the game could be down. port # still the same?

I still don't have time for anything, so please put me on AI, or not, if that's more fair.

marignon accidentally was not password protected so it should be easy. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Again I apologize for any alliances this snafus, but I assume I got eaten for lunch over the Last 2 turns, so the effect may be minimal.

It was quite a fun game, even if my starting position made it a tiny bit fruitless.

In other news, in less than two weeks the USA will lose even the pretense of being a democratic republic, if Monkey-Boy is "re-elected".

It's telling on the state of our political culture that the GOP/Bushies have done ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING wrong, have done nothing but create an unending series of disasters, have nothing positive to run on, and on the basis of disgustingly-business-as-usual spin+lies are still neck and neck.

Makes one wonder what it would take to get people to notice Rome is burning. And this time Nero set the fire.

Some conservatives. God help us.

Has anyone else noticed how "diebold" reminds one of "diablo"?? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/evil.gif

Off to the swing states,

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow

Hey, the Bush cabal is simply reminding the world that democracy in the USA is still "a grand experiment", and an experiment that is failing.

On the bright side, after he wins this election because his Reich rigged it ( throwing out democratic and independent voter registrations, screwing with the voter rolls, having a company whose president promised to deliver this election to Bush making many of the electronic (fraud prone) voting machines ), we can look forward to the brighter Bush as our president in 2008.

And then, screw it - it'll be the Bush dynasty, and we'll have an unconstitutional monarchy.

Remember - this is a president who looked into Putin (former KGB guy)'s eyes, and said he got a sense of his soul. No doubt - they both are willing to falsely imprison people, start wars, lie, slander, destroy constitutions, etc, in order to get and maintain power.

As a nice 60-something year old republican lady who voted for Bush in 2000 put it, "I'm ashamed that I voted for Bush Last time - and I did so because of his stand on firearms (the which I dislike personally but I do feel that "the people" should have access to arms lest they be totally at the mercy of the government. But if the democratic process won't oust him and no one will shoot Bush, then what's the point of having guns?"

And this is a woman who readily admits that she doesn't follow the news, because it's too depressing.

Looks like Esben is the game owner now, so you might email him (through his site) and ask him to restart the game. Changing the ownership to someone in the game might be an idea as well.

In the meantime, just try and try again - like I said, I had about 2 successes in 8 tries connecting Thursday.

Hey, I resent that! I'm not dead (yet)! Ok, I may be down to about 20 troops total, I may have 3 provinces total, my pretender has more afflictions than a combat dummy but I'm alive!!

Seriously, I have restarted the game. Hope it helps. I also hope this problem goes away when the load on the server diminishes... it's still pushing 22 games.

As Marignon's current enemy I would prefer if someone else would set Marignon to AI, for I do not want to peek behind my enemies lines... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif So I have asked rabelais to do this himself, since the restarted server seems to have helped with the connection problems (at least for me).

However, it is clear that he might not have the time to mess around with the game, so I suggest that the Last player to do his current turn now also logs in as Marignon and sets Marignon to AI. In this way we would not loose any additional time...thanks!

Hello all players!

Is anyone still playing this game?

All the turns are now taking the whole time.
This is not working!

I have a feeling that everybody seems to be losing interest. The idea of 4 days quickhost was good when we had no staling players. Now it seems there are several stales every turn.

Come on! You have 96 hours to do your turns!

I suggest that everybody still playing says hello here. Then we put everyone else to AI.
Another solution would be to move to 48 hours quick host.

What do you think? Please respond something at least, or I fear this game will die.

Re: MP Game - Anyone interested in a *really* slow

I've been taking the turns, and as far as taking the full turns, I signed up _because_ it was a 96hr pace meaning that it wouldn't get hectic w/ other schedules.

If people really want to go 48QH, fine by me - me going AI might inconvenience a few nations though.
