Re: improbably impossible randomness

well, I had something occur that has something like a 5% chance of happening. I just wanted to see what was going on in the background.

there's alot of greek to me, and I can't find everything I wanted to see; but it was helpful.

Macs wrap up their applications in "packages" that are really folders, so yes, you've got it exactly right. The folder structure is highly controlled, so the OS knows exactly where to look for the actual executable (which you've found) and its other files. The easy way to see inside from the Finder is to right-click (or control-click on a one-button system) and choose "show package contents" from the pop-up menu.

Back in the old Dominions 2 days, you had to get in there to install maps and mods, but fortunately, now you don't have to.

There are a number of us Mac users on the forums if you have any other Mac-related questions.

the farking dominions3.app is actually a folder that does something magical when you click on it to launch the game. if you want to use command line switches, the actual executable is deeper in the folder, and becomes confused by trying to use them at the magical dominions.app folder level

that's my explanation and i'm stickin with it. magic.

That's how all the Mac apps work. The game is an icon is a folder that contains all. Mortals shall not see a difference.

This is because Macs ordinarily communicate via direct telepathy to the highly evolved brains of the vastly superior people who use them. Some biologists are now proposing that these godlike beings be officially designated as a new human species, homo sapien superior.

I wish i was good enough to own a Mac

Are you questioning the Word of our Fearless Leader, Stefan Jobsczek?
